Hanna Matyiku and Jordan Nuñez’s love story began in 2016, around the campus of Boston University; specifically, within the college’s student union, George Sherman Union. “When we adopted our dog six years later, we named him George Sherman in honor of that first meeting,” the pair shares.

Just over 3 years after meeting, Jordan proposed to Hanna throughout the holiday season. “Over Christmas in 2019, we packed up our way of life in San Francisco to maneuver to Austin,” Hanna remembers. “On our drive to the new home, we stopped over in Utah to celebrate Christmas with each of our families—it was the very first time they were in a position to all be together. On Boxing Day morning, Jordan proposed in my experience in front of our entire families. Each person arrived in the family room, offered me a flower, and explained how much they loved me, after which left.

I sat holding a bouquet from your family when Jordan inquired about marrying him.” The family’s involvement made as soon extra memorable—with one member particularly. “Our niece, who had been four at that time, ran in mid-proposal to look at us. Her interruption gave us a great laugh, which split up our tear-filled proposal,” they add.

The pair imagined a wedding in Oaxaca, Mexico, and were starting to plan once the pandemic took hold. “Plan B would be a trip to the courthouse therefore we would be married whenever we had our baby,” Hanna shares. “Plan C ended up being to put together a micro-wedding within our backyard in under 10 weeks. Plan C was crazy, however, it meant we've got to celebrate our wedding properly just because a courthouse wedding didn't feel large enough for our love princess wedding dresses  story.”

Plan C rarely becomes the perfect option, but that’s precisely what happened for Hanna and Jordan. Their July 10, 2021 backyard wedding was full of whimsical florals and trendy details had heartfelt moments and touches of humor, and more importantly, put the concentrate on family—including their soon-to-come baby. “My backyard, within the middle of the Texas summer, seven months pregnant, never was on my wedding Pinterest board,” Hanna says laughing. “But it had been perfect.”
