A Romantic and Bohemian Wedding

Rachel runs her very own business, creating and selling virtual vintage and fantasy clothing to have an online game.

She and her fiancé Francis, a software engineer, were married on 29 August 2018, near Bibury in Gloucestershire. The couple took their inspiration using their wish to possess a relaxed, joyous, and informal day, and in the romance of the Edwardian era.

"I've just always loved more romantic and bohemian styles, whether in clothing or décor. Right in the start my only vision of the day maybe it was should be joyous and fun. I didn't have a specific theme other than this! I love color and wanted it to possess a relaxed informal feel as that reflects each of our tastes…"

"We met when Francis lived in Surrey and I had just gone to live in Bath from Sydney (where I was raised) the year before. Francis will come out most weekends or we'd get together closer to him but we wound up moving in together here after just a couple of months of dating."

"Fast forward a few years and we were engaged following a simple but very romantic and sweet proposal cuddled up together during sex one night in January."

Rachel finds the most exquisitely beautiful embroidered gown inside a lovely and warm cafe au lait shade by a designer Inspired by the empire line gowns from the Edwardian era, Rachel wore hers by having an authentic period corset underneath to produce the perfect silhouette.

"I'd initially wanted to visit bridal stores to test dresses, but was quickly disabused of this idea. When you're full figured it's so limited, and also the places near me with larger sizes all seemed so generic… Combined using the fact my loved ones and bridesmaid are in Australia and New Zealand I just didn't seem like going to places alone if this is this type of bonding coming of age experience in my thoughts." Bridesmaid Jess looked wonderful inside sage green bridesmaid dresses, which Rachel ordered online using Jess' measurements – a gamble that many repaid, since the resulting dress is stunning, paired using the colors of her very own bridal gown perfectly.

As well as that lovely flower crown for Rachel, florist Beth at created wild and natural arrangements for that day in soft pastel shades.

"I knew I wanted colorful, joyful country flowers as part of the informal happy feel of the day. Flowers were so important in my experience, they're something I love and fill my home with so I wanted the flowers around the day to become a real part of it all. I just designed a Pinterest board and sent it to Beth and her team."

"We didn't have readings…marriage is a coming of age and tradition, therefore we wanted our vows to be very much consistent with that. Not personalized, once we feel there is more meaning in "official" words said before your family and friends. For us, it was very romantic and special, once we're private and never ones for public displays generally! I think this would be an essential requirement of everything."

"The whole day was so wonderful and everything I had wished for and more. I think if this comes right down to it though, the part that's my favorite was that whenever the ceremony (which was special and thus wonderful holding hands and making those vows), there was this type of sense of happiness and relief the actual marriage bit was done and that we could just relax now and also have fun."

"So, the dancing was probably my favorite part of the day. It was everything I'd wished for, these were just amazing and thus much fun. They had a lot of up and dancing and it had been that joyful, silly, and fun party I'd been wanting!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Whatever feeling that's, whatever style. You have to consider what you worry about having; that which you will worry about for a long time. Those memories are what matter, so it's whatever does that for you that I think is essential to focus on."
