Blizzard has published a lengthy response to a discussion on Burning Crusade Classic and WoTLK Gold Classic server issues and has also confirmed that the possibility of a "live chat" conversation with the community of the game on the subject is expected within the next few days.
The forum post, which was written by Aggrend, a WoTLK Classic producer with the name of Aggrend on the WoW community council forum. WoW community council, delves into the way Blizzard uses free transfer of characters server mergers, transfers of characters and more. Aggrend explains that it's a difficult issue that does not have any "silver bullet" solution. He writes"that "player transfer across different realms are among the most complicated issues, if not the most complicated issues that WoTLK Classic faces."
"There's no one-size-fits-all solution to this question, since individuals have different preferences and many seemingly obvious solutions can have nonsensical results," Aggrend writes.
Server imbalances aren't unique in Burning Crusade Classic or WoTLK Classic. There have been many stories about specific servers in old-fashioned MMORPGs having a population of over 90 percent Horde players, or in the opposite direction. In most cases, when a server is rumored to be dominated by a specific faction, guilds from the other side and rather than endure it, will be willing to pay to move to a server that has more balanced population. This is especially true in PvP servers in which a healthy fight between factions is essential to the server's popularity.
Aggrend then gives examples of when trying to "fix" issues that affect certain groups of players with regard to balance in servers can unintentionally affect the experience of many more players rather than helping. He imagines an instance where a PvP server is home to a population of 40 percent Alliance and 60 percent Horde. Although the majority of players may be satisfied, a portion of Alliance players don't like being outnumbered. If Blizzard to allow transfer of characters for free on this realm, the unhappy Alliance players could transfer to a server that has more balance in population. However, the negative effect could be that the server they previously resided on would turn into 75 percent Horde buy WoTLK Gold which would make the experience more difficult for those who were happy with their previous balance.
