Samantha And Nathan's Funky Festival Wedding

Samantha and Nathan first met once they were 18 years of age.

"We had mutual friends and were accustomed to going to the same nightclub," says Samantha. "Nathan pursued me for some time before I decided to go on to start dating ?. Our first official date ended up being to Burger King at Bluewater!"

A BEAUTIFUL PROPOSAL IN VIETNAM

Nathan proposed following the couple have been together for ten years. "I thought it might never happen, so didn't expect it whatsoever," says Samantha. "We were backpacking in Vietnam coupled with going on the moped ride with the mountains. I was panicking about becoming lost and kept asking Nathan they are driving us to the hotel. Little did I know, he wanted the perfect location for our proposal. Eventually, he pulled over with a river and popped the question. It is unexpected, I just cried and forgot to express, Yes!"

"Nathan was quite anxious beforehand, so he visited to buy two cans of drink and wound up almost paying £50 on their behalf! He got wrongly identified as the currency. Luckily, the woman selling them was super honest and kept attempting to give him all of the change. He kept declaring that to keep it because he thought it had been only around £1, not £49!"

DREAM DRES'S SHOPPING IN BRIDAL SHOPS IN FEELTIMES

Samantha found her perfect dress in feeltimes dresses. "I didn't anticipate finding my dress however they were actually Bali princess wedding dresses, just the second one I tried on. It is beautiful and I loved how the sequins caught the sunshine. I couldn't believe the standard for the price."

"My mum, mother-in-law, and finest friend included me. They were all emotional once they saw the gown and it had been this reaction that actually sealed the offer. The girl who solved the problem in the store seemed to be lovely. She is patient and paid attention to exactly what I wanted."

LAID-BACK GLAMPING

"We went for any festival-style wedding with two giant tipis in a glamping site in Kent," says Samantha. "There were also 10 glamping tents to see relatives stay in. We knew we wanted giant tipis and spent weeks throughout the first lockdown attempting to source somewhere we're able to hire to pitch them."

"When we visited Lillyroo's, a glamping site, we simply knew it was an ideal location. The site was very relaxed and also included bell tents. From that moment on I was so excited about the day. Also, once we told anyone about this, they were excited and curious. Most of our guests hadn't visited a wedding such as this before."

SUNSHINE AND FLOWERS

The wedding was around the 11th of September 2021. "My dad walked me on the aisle and something of our friends sang and played Eric Clapton's 'You Look Wonderful Tonight' around the piano," says Samantha.

"The morning would be cloudy but, as I walked on the aisle, the sun's rays broke with the clouds. Then we'd be pure sunshine for the rest of your day. We got married outside while watching tipis. Guests sat on hay bales and we had a huge flower hexagon and neon sign to face in front of too."

A FESTIVAL EXTRAVAGANZA

"We really went for that festival vibe and that we completely pulled them back," says Samantha. "Our food was amazing, festival-style boxes with filled pittas and sides. In the evening we were built with a fish and chip van arrives."

"Another friend was our DJ and provided the background music. It was just vinyl records along with a night filled with 70's and 80s discos. We paid for any free bar too, so everybody was up around the dance floor through the night!"

A GLITTERING PARTY

"The thing that managed to get most memorable was having our three-month-old son there, and being able to arrange it all whilst also being new parents," says Samantha. "Also, I loved the glitter bar! I wanted everyone to actually get into the festival spirit, so it had been the first thing I booked after our venue."

MY TOP TIPS…

"Don't sweat the little stuff," says Samantha. "Loads of things didn't visit plan. For example, our tipi company didn't supply plenty of items, but nobody noticed. People also don't remember what reception hall decor you had or whether your bridesmaids' dresses perfectly matched the groom's tie!"
