A very well written story, revisiting the genre with a fresh stack of monsters and magicks, away from the umpteenth reimagining of Tolkien. Reminds me of « The throne of the crescent moon » by Saladin Ahmed, but goes beyond it by thoroughly revisiting all the tropes.
